Use 2FA Codes for authenticator-style TOTP secrets. GitVault stores the secret in the encrypted vault and shows live codes when unlocked.

Each code includes a countdown so you can avoid copying a nearly expired code.

Add a 2FA code

  1. 1
    Open 2FA Codes.

Use the authenticator area in GitVault.

  2. 2
    Add issuer and account.

Use names you can recognize during login.

  3. 3
    Paste the TOTP secret.

Copy the secret or otpauth link from the service you are protecting.

  4. 4
    Save and verify.

Confirm GitVault shows a live 6-digit code and countdown.

Choose or create a group

Use the group dropdown in the 2FA form. Select an existing group or create a new one from the same control so 2FA organization matches your password organization.

Use a code

  1. 1
    Open the 2FA entry.

Wait for the next code if the countdown is nearly finished.

  2. 2
    Copy the code.

Paste it into the service before the timer resets.

  3. 3
    Let clipboard clear.

Use clipboard auto-clear for safer temporary copying.

Store 2FA inside a password

If the TOTP secret belongs to a login already saved in Passwords, attach it to the password record. That keeps username, password, URL, notes, and live 2FA code together.
